The Bouts last night

There was a double header in Longmont last night, and both bouts were quite fun.  The first one was a mix up bout with skaters of all levels playing together and the second bout was a B Level game with the Bombshells taking on RMRG's Fight Club.  Both bouts featured lots of action and close scores.  They also featured some pretty good reffing, with some pretty good people doing said reffing.

the Finest in Roller Skates

It's easy to tell this ad came from the mid to late 70s- dig the old style Farrah Fawcett-Majors hair (that's who she was back then.  This model is a close proximity to the late Farrah, but Farrah never had tan lines like that.  Oh sure, like you were looking at those skates OR the classic car first.  At least the designer of the ad had the forethought to put the skates front and center, so the eye would naturally follow the flow down there.

Nebraska Road Trip

So this past weekend I did my first ever road trip for roller derby.  Well, further than two hours, right?  I mean, that's about as far away as I ever went in Southern California.  Nlot that I wouldn't have traveled more, but due to a wide variety of circumstances the opportunity never really happened.  This was kind of last minute as well, but since I had the weekend off I decided to go to Nebraska as a skating official.

Road Trip!

Early tomorrow I head out to Lincoln Nebraska for my first ever real road trip for roller derby.  The furthest I've ever gone before for bouts was about two hours north, and I've never stayed overnight before.  I think this will be a lot of fun.  I'm travelling with a fellow ref (hi Bard!) and his wife who plays for the All Stars, so I'll have good company.

Belladonna profile

Real Name:
Lisa Barber

What is the origin of your derby name and number?
Belladonna is Italian for beautiful woman as well as being the name of a powerful herbal sedative which if taken in excess will kill you. I chose it because when I thought of derby and the strong, powerful and beautiful woman who play this sport, I wanted a name that would embody those qualities while also being mindful that an excess of attachment to beauty could be dangerous or fatal.

This month

Last month I had no computer, so I didn't write much. Fortunately two people helped out, which was great.
