when to NOT skate

When you have pre-pneumonia or whatever the hell I am just recovering from.  I haven't been on skates or around much since the July 3rd.  I kept thinking I would get better in time for a scrimmage, but danged if I didn't.

John Hall Championship Bout 7-5-14 Ninjas vs Rebels

By KGB

WHAT A GAME!!! July 5th, 2014 went down in Skate World history. It was the first championship game for the John Hall Cup! The two teams fighting for this title were the Rolling Rebel Alliance, and The Rollin’ Ninjas. The beginning of the game started out with an RRA lead of 10 points, but right before halftime the Ninjas managed to pull ahead by 1 point. During the second half the teams went back and forth leading only by 1 or 2 points. The crowd was going insane with this nail biter game. Both teams fought hard during this game but the Ninjas took the win, 80-72! The Rollin’ Ninjas had a fantastic season and remain undefeated, until the start of next years home team season.

Bombs Away

This is the wrap up picture from last night's scrimmage at the Bomb Shelter. It was a themed scrimmage, red white and blue with the teams being the Black Cats and the Silver Salutes.  The teams were really evenly matched so it was fun to ref.  We also had a few teachable moments (lead jammer being awarded to both jammers during one jam) but that's why we have scrimmages- that's when the refs get to practice and train.  I know, and have documented more than once here, that when I make a mistake I tend not to do the same thing again for a long time.

bye bye Bomb Shelter #2

Tonight is the last scrimmage at BCB's Bomb Shelter #2.  This is the only Bomb Shelter I have known, and even in the eight months I've been there it's come to mean quite a bit to me.  It started the second phase of my reffing career, and that's something I really appreciate.

Double Header 6-29-14

This past Saturday night the Boulder County Bombers had a double header, with the Bombshells taking on the Southside Derby Dames and the All-Stars bouting the DRD Bruising Altitude.  The first bout I was jam reffing and the second bout I was an OPR.  This was the first time I would be reffing the All-Stars this year, in a real bout, I mean, and I was really looking forward to it.
